Nifty Treads Water as IT Stocks Show Strength Ahead of Earnings Season

Indian equities opened flat on Thursday, with the Nifty 50 inching up 0.03% to 25,053.15 while the Sensex held steady at 81,772.08. Market participants adopted a wait-and-see approach as TCS prepares to kick off the Q2 earnings season later today.

"The results season starting today will be keenly watched by the market," said Geojit's Dr. VK Vijayakumar, noting IT stocks have rebounded from recent lows despite persistent sector headwinds. Tata Steel led gainers with a 2.45% surge, while HCL Technologies climbed 1.41%, signaling renewed interest in tech names.

Financials weighed on performance, with Kotak Mahindra Bank and HDFC Bank both retreating over 0.6%. The muted session reflects consolidation after recent gains, with Enrich Money's Ponmudi R observing the Nifty remains rangebound NEAR record levels.
